You've confirmed your booking with Easy as™ — that's the hard part done. Now it's about making sure everything is ready for collection day so your move goes smoothly from the moment our team arrives at your door. Here's your week by week guide.

Week 4 — Sort, Declutter, and Plan

This is your window to make smart decisions before packing begins.

Declutter with purpose

Go room by room and be honest about what's coming with you. Anything you're unsure about — ask yourself: would I buy this again in Australia? If the answer is no, now is the time to sell it, donate it, or leave it behind. A lighter shipment is a cheaper shipment.

Start your personal inventory

While Easy as™ will create your official customs inventory on collection day, having your own room by room list helps you stay organised and gives you peace of mind when your belongings arrive in Australia.

Identify your high-value items

Jewellery, artwork, antiques, and electronics of significant value need to be flagged for insurance purposes. Make a list, take photographs, and keep any receipts or valuations in a safe place.

Check your biosecurity items

Start cleaning outdoor and sports equipment now — bikes, hiking boots, golf clubs, camping gear, and garden tools. Australia's biosecurity standard is thorough, and starting early means you're not rushing in the final days. For a full guide, read — Biosecurity Rules Before Shipping.

Week 3 — Admin and Logistics

Sort your documents

Gather the paperwork you'll need on both sides of the Tasman — passports, birth certificates, driver's licences, medical records, school reports, and any employment contracts. Keep originals and copies in a secure, accessible folder that stays with you — not in your shipment.

Confirm your Australian address

Easy as™ needs your delivery address in Australia to coordinate your shipment. If you're still finalising where you're going, let us know as early as possible.

Notify key organisations

Contact your bank, insurance providers, IRD, and any subscription services with your departure date. Arrange to have your New Zealand mail redirected to a trusted contact or your new Australian address.

Arrange your utilities

Book disconnection dates for power, internet, and gas in New Zealand. If you're renting, notify your property manager of your vacate date and arrange a final inspection.

Week 2 — Prepare Your Home

Finish your biosecurity cleaning

All outdoor items, garden tools, shoes, and sports equipment should be clean and ready. This is your last chance to address anything that could cause a problem at the Australian border.

Prepare your appliances

Defrost and thoroughly dry your fridge and freezer — this takes longer than most people expect, so don't leave it to the last day. Disconnect and clean your washing machine and dishwasher.

Dismantle what you can

If you're comfortable doing so, dismantle large furniture items like bed frames, bookshelves, and dining tables. Place all screws and hardware in clearly labelled bags taped to the item. This makes packing faster and protects your furniture during transit.

Set up your No-Pack Zone

Designate a clearly marked area in your home for everything that is not being shipped — your personal luggage, travel documents, medications, chargers, and essentials for your first days in Australia. Our team will leave this area completely untouched on collection day.

Week 1 — Final Countdown

Pack your Easy as™ Essentials Box

This is the most important box you'll pack yourself — and it travels with you, not in the container. Include passports and key documents, phone and laptop chargers, medications, a change of clothes, kids' essentials if you have a family, and anything you'll need for your first night in Australia.

Do your final walk-through

The night before collection day, walk slowly through every room, cupboard, and drawer. Make sure everything you want shipped is accessible and ready, and that your No-Pack Zone is clearly set up.

Get a good night's sleep

Collection day is our job, not yours. Your only role on the day is to be present, answer any questions from our crew leader, and do a final sign-off on your inventory. We handle everything else.

Collection Day — Sit Back and Relax

Our professional crew will arrive, introduce themselves, and do a quick walk-through with you before packing begins. From there, it's in our hands. We pack, wrap, inventory, and load everything with care.

Before we leave, your crew leader will walk through the empty home with you one last time, then present you with your final inventory list and Bill of Lading for sign-off.

With your signature, your belongings are officially on their way to Australia.
